I'm excited to share some significant updates about the Namibia Roadbook Camp 2026. As you know, the NRC has become world-renowned for its comprehensive sand and dune training, delivering proper preparation for serious rally competitors. I am very proud to have NRC graduates successfully complete high profile races around the world, including Dakar, Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, Rally du Maroc and many more. Based on the tremendous interest we've received over the years and the insights gained from working with riders of varying skill levels, we're introducing some exciting changes for 2026.

 

New 2026 Format - Four Entry Options

To ensure every participant gets maximum value and is properly prepared for the intensity of our training, we've restructured the program into four options:

Option 1: Sand & Dune Clinic (4 days)

- 3 days of intensive riding and training focused purely on sand and dune techniques

- No roadbooks - just pure skill development

- 1 rest/tourism day with activities like sleeping under the stars and exploring the beauty of the area

Who this is for - Riders who are new to sand and dunes. Riders who haven't yet completed a world sand rally (such as Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, Rally du Maroc, Sonora Rally, etc. or who have not attended a previous Namibia Roadbook Camp)

Option 2: Namibia Roadbook Camp Only (5 days)

- Our classic intensive roadbook training program

- 5 days of Dakar style, FIM spec roadbooks in big dunes and on flats, designed to sharpen you skills in order to excel at international competitions.

- Opportunity to ride in front and “open” the track.

Who this is for -  Riders with significant dune experience OR previous NRC graduates. Riders who are serious about preparing for an international sand/dune rally, like Dakar, Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, Rally Du Maroc, Sonora, etc.

Option 3: Dune Explorer Sand & Dune Clinic + First 3 days of NRC (8 days total)

- Perfect progression from foundational skills to roadbook navigation

- This will enable you to be proficient in the dunes, navigate well, and have confidence to ride on your own.

Who this is for -  Riders wanting solid preparation before tackling the full roadbook challenge or want to prepare for their first big rally.

Option 4: Dune Master Package (10 days total)

- Complete journey: 3 days Sand & Dune Clinic + 5 days full NRC

- The most comprehensive training experience we offer

Who this is for - Serious competitors wanting the ultimate preparation

Prerequisites

To maintain the high standard of the NRC, riders must either:

- Have completed a world sand rally, OR

- Be a previous NRC graduate, OR

- Complete the Sand & Dune Clinic first

This ensures everyone in the roadbook camp is ready for the challenge ahead.

Pricing & Registration

Early bird pricing is available until April 2026 - after which prices will increase. Detailed itineraries and pricing for each option are included below.

Why is Dune Riding and Desert Navigation Crucial if you want to enter an international rally?

Having competed as a rider, raced internationally, organized events, and served as a race director, I have observed three key trends when it comes to dune sections in rallies worldwide:

1. High Attrition Rates – Once a race enters the dunes, attrition rates spike dramatically, often reaching 30%. You do not want to be part of that statistic.

2. Fear and Intimidation – Many riders visibly worry before entering the dunes. I used to be one of them. Fear in the dunes distracts focus, which significantly increases the risk of crashing, leading to mechanical failures or serious injury.

3. Mechanical Failures – Many riders push their bikes beyond their physical limits. Understanding how to manage your machine, how to navigate efficiently, and how to escape difficult situations without exhausting yourself or damaging your bike is crucial to surviving a rally.

ASO Recognition - A Game Changer

I'm pleased to announce that I am now an accredited and recognized trainer/coach of the ASO (the organization that runs Dakar). While the Namibia Roadbook Camp doesn't directly award Dakar points, you will receive formal feedback from me that will significantly strengthen your Dakar application.

Here's what this means for you: If you have the NRC on your Dakar application, it demonstrates serious commitment and preparation. In cases where candidates have equal points (for example, two applicants with 18 points each), having attended training with an ASO-recognized coach like myself will give you preferential treatment. It's an important edge that could make the difference in your Dakar journey.
